At this point, it's too dangerous to charge into melee combat. Packed adventuring days may leave the build without Wild Shape uses and especially Rages. At higher levels, spells like Plant Growth, Stone Shape, Greater Restoration, Transport Via Plants, and more all make this build as helpful outside of combat as in it.Ī D&D 5e druid and barbarian multiclass shouldn't wholly neglect combat spells. So too are Enhance Ability, Locate Object, Skywrite, and more. Animal Friendship, Charm Person, and Jump are all routinely useful, particularly at low levels. The druid spell list is stocked with out-of-combat spells. Having low Constitution puts their life at risk if they're unexpectedly knocked out of Wild Shape. A barbarian druid multiclass is always going to be in the thick of combat. However, this build doesn't want to neglect it in its ordinary form. It lets the character prepare more spells every day and improves their healing, spell attack rolls, and spell saving throw DCs.Ĭonstitution is another ability score that gets replaced by Wild Shape. This will enhance the character's spellcasting abilities to provide out-of-combat utility and emergency combat spellcasting. Instead, a druid and barbarian multiclass build wants to emphasize Wisdom. A minimum of 13 for multiclassing is all a player needs. Instead, the expanded options granted by Combat Wild Shape will provide enough Strength for combat. The build will never have enough levels in barbarian to make combat a wise choice in its normal form. Unlike most D&D 5e barbarian builds, a barbarian and druid multiclass combination does not require high Strength. As a result, the barbarian and druid D&D 5e multiclass combo boosts survivability even without Rage. Many of a Moon Druid's options have a higher combined Dexterity and Constitution bonuses than they do Armor Class. A D&D barbarian's Unarmored Defense functions in Wild Shape. There are more specific synergies as well. This synergizes well with Rage's resistances and damage buffs on every attack. Furthermore, most of a Circle of the Moon's Combat Wild Shape forms have reasonable hit points and multiple attacks. Druids cannot cast spells in Wild Shape for most of the game, which stops Rage's spellcasting limitations hindering the build. Combining the two makes for a particularly vicious combination.Ī D&D 5e Circle of the Moon druid makes for a better barbarian multiclass than most spellcasters. Barbarian Rage and druidic Wild Shape are both fully functional on their own. Both enhance a character's toughness and melee capabilities significantly. Both Wild Shape and Rage create the mental image of a character giving into primal fury. Most druid and barbarian multiclass builds in D&D 5e combine the most evocative abilities of both classes.
